Quality Issues
By Mark S. Vonmaier
This tent is light and rolls up easily with a good waterproof floor so no footprint is needed. The rain fly is a bit short, which in my view means this tent is not truly 4 season. It is relatively easy to set up, except it is quite challenging to thread the poles into the sleeves. I recommend buying a tent with an external frame rigging to avoid that difficulty. It was very sturdy against sustained 40 mph winds in Patagonia. The biggest problem with this tent (and the reason I rated it low) is because the pole and stake grommets were so badly crimped that most came out on first use. It also appears the zipper fabric will begin to tear after continued use because the fabric is quite thin and the fibers were beginning to separate after a couple of set ups. Still it is a good value for occasional use (if you don't mind replacing the grommets).

Decent tent
By Daniel Kunkel
Pros4 season strongAluminum polesThe rain fly makes a small vestibule area in front of the doorConsThe tent weighs 7.6 lbs -- tent body, poles, stakes, rain fly and carrying case. Makes it kinda heavy for a backpacking tent, imho.It is VERY HARD to insert or remove the poles into or from the tent itself. The poles stick to the material and the material bunches up.

With a little maintenance this is an excellent tent.
By A. Tumiati
If you are considering buying this tent, I would say go for it BUT REPLACE THE GROMMETS before you use it or you may be sorry. This tent has many excellent features and I am very pleased with the purchase. I knew about the "grommet problem" when I purchased this tent thanks to other reviewers and I am very thankful. The first time I set the tent up, 4 of the grommets broke off! If I had been in the middle of the woods when this happened I would have been in very big trouble. Before I took the tent out in the woods (see pics) I replaced the grommets and sealed all the seams. As I said, there are many good features about this tent:PROS: It is a strange contradiction but aside from the junk grommets this tent seems to be made out of very high quality material. The zippers are high quality and seem to be well manufactured. They have also included an extra triangle of fabric around where the zippers meet to increase water-resistance. This is an excellent feature. There is also a down flap covering the zippers on the front door which also adds to the water-resistance.The poles are made of aluminum and seem to be of high quality. As one other reviewer mentioned, the poles are a challenge to thread through the material the first few times you set this tent up, but this gets better over time. I used some waxed paper on the tent poles while threading them through but it didn't do much good. By the fourth time I set the tent up this wasn't really an issue any more. The tent stakes are very lightweight and sturdy also.Another big pro about this tent is the design itself. In my opinion, this tent is designed better than most backpacking tents costing 3 or 4 times as much. The internal venting is highly customizable which keeps condensation down considerably and gives you a lot of control from the inside of the tent. That is very important to me since I like to camp throughout the year.Weighing in at around 7 pounds, this tent may be a bit heavier than other backpacking tents but in my opinion, I'll take an extra pound or so for a little extra space and better features. The tent is very comfortable for one person. I am 6 feet tall and had plenty of room. Two backpackers could fit in this tent without killing each other, so long as they didn't have too much gear with them. The compression sack is an interesting design. I'm not sure if I love it or hate yet it but it gets the job done. The rain fly attaches to the tent by adjustable straps, which is a nice feature. Setup is also pretty simple for one person once you get the hang of it. The support ropes are pretty straight-forward and are well made.CONS: There are a few, unfortunately. I have already mentioned the grommet issue. The grommets are ¼ inch (not 3/8s!) and are a pretty simple fix. Your local hardware store or sowing store will likely have the grommet kit to fix this under ten dollars. The poles are a little challenging to get through the fabric the first few times you set this tent up. You also have to be careful when you are flexing the poles as the material tightens considerably attaching the poles to the grommets. If you get in a hurry while doing this, I feel you could damage the tent.TO SUM UP: If you don't mind putting a little work into this tent by fixing the grommets you will have an excellent tent with many good features at a very affordable price. The design of this tent is outstanding for backpacking in my opinion and I would buy the tent again. The first time I used it, the temperature dropped into the twenties and the second night it rained. I was warm and dry and had little to no condensation in the tent. I was very surprised and impressed. I also have a High Peak backpack and have found it to have many features that the others don't while costing 3 or 4 times as much.
