Product Description

Protect yourself from damp camp conditions with an ultra-light, silicone-treated, nylon ripstop floor and fly coated with polyurethane and seam taped for waterproofness. No condensation in this tent; a canopy comprised of nylon and polyester mesh provides ample ventilation. Carry it without straining and set it up quickly to a hub and pole design with DAC featherlight NSL aluminum poles, press fit connectors, and lightweight hubs. Get a little bit more loft space with the DAC Twist Clips that attach the tent canopy to the pole frame, affording you 42 inches of standing height. Enter in and out via the 2 D-shaped doors that are complete with storm flaps over the zippers for weather-tight comfort and large vestibules for stowing gear. When winds threaten, stake it down with the 10 Superlight aluminum J stakes that have an Earth-friendly anodized finish. Keep extra gear in the interior mesh pockets or add in a gear loft to make hanging a matching loft quick and easy.

This is my Happy Tent!

Bottom line: I love this tent and would purchase it again. Since it's lightweight, it can't be optimal in all categories (namely relating to fabric quality) so you have to accept that.Pros: (1) Very light (2) Very spacious, even for 6'+ people, lots of space around the head of the tent, love that (3) Wonderful light colors make you feel cheery when inside it, even on cloudy days (4) Very easy to set up and pack, free standing (5) lots of mesh to keep cool/look at stars on warm or humid nights (6) Large vestibule space on either side for storing gear or even cooking away from rain.Cons: (1) Ultra-light rainfly fabric makes a weird sound in wind, even light wind. Sounds like rain drops are hitting the tent (2) Small cross-beam makes it hard to put the fly on, I'm always scared I'm going to rip it (3) You do have to take care in regards to the fabric (it's actually quite sturdy, but you don't want to trip on a guy line if you have it staked out)I have used this tent in cold, rainy, windy weather and it was great. I have camped in it in southern Mississippi in July when it was 110 degrees and 80% humidity...not saying I was comfortable, but this tent was as close to having nothing there as possible due to all the breathable mesh (I mostly used it to keep bugs off me). I felt like I was under the stars with a 360 sky view!

This tent is great, very easy to put together and so light! I haven't used it in bad weather or anything but two of us fit in it nicely and we're on the taller side.When looking at all the tents possible, weight was an issue, height and length. I wanted to be comfortable even in bad weather. This tent had it all and I am very happy with this purchase.

This tent is lightweight and a snap to set up.I set up for the first time in around 5 minutes.I use the tent as my 1 person tent for multi-day trips and really wouldn't call it a 2 person tent.I'm a big guy(6'4,265 pounds) and I like to keep my pack in the tent with,this being said 2 people and gear would not fit.All in all a great lightweight tent!

I am 6'4" 270 lbs. This tent is good for me as a single camper. I have had my 10 year old son and we were comfortable with our gear outside in vestibules, but another camper my size...not so good. I took this out in Jan and Feb in Southern Oh and Northern KY. Temps got down to 11 degrees and 14 degrees. Light snow and freezing conditions. Tent held out the moisture from the elements outside, but I forgot to vent the tent and had moisture freezing inside the tent when packing up for the day. My fault. I am not sure if venting would prevent it, but it is not rated a 4 season tent anyway.The summer use is good if it does not rain. The full tent fly eleiminates the circulation so it feels stuffy when camping in warmer weather. Sacrifice dry for little circulation? I may get a better option for a hot summer tent.Double doors, I would not buy a tent without them now. Vestibules good for storage, keep one for entrance and the other for extra gear to free up tent space. Includes an upper gear loft, awesome for cmaer, phone, knife, headlight, etc.One thing that is not part of the tent review but worth mentioning, is the carrry bag has a clear vinyl plastic pouch for instructions, ground cloth or map? Not sure of purpose, but the cold weather just wasn't kind to the vinyl, it cracked so now it's just an annoyance to me because I know I could have prevented it but in the rush to get packed, I stuffed a ground cloth in and caused the crack.

Product Description

The Meramac series tents are all free standing 2-pole designs with shock corded fiberglass poles and aluminum ferrules. The ferrules are the "connectors" that hold the poles together and we use aluminum, rather than steel, because aluminum can never rust. Our fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent. We use lightweight but strong polyester fabrics. The walls are uncoated so the tent can "breathe" under the urethane coated fly. The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection. Our fly is full length on the sides, not 3/4 length like some others on the market, for better weather protection. We even have our factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. Entry and exit are enhanced with 2 doors, which means if you have to get out at night, you don't need to crawl over the others to get to the only door. The second door is also nice for extra ventilation in hot, muggy weather. Our door zippers are a #8, which is one size larger than most, for extra durability.

Awesome little backpacking tent.

It's light, packs small and it's very affordable. An excellent value for the money. I really like that the poles do not have to be slid through sleeves but instead hold the tent up by clips. The tent goes up fast and comes down fast.

Great tent

I set this tent up with out looking at any instructions and didn't have any problems. It rained pretty hard for a few hours of the night and not one drop of water came in the tent. It will fit a single airmattress...so I would say this is more like a one person tent!

Awesome tent for the $, but with a few issues

I bought a new Kelty Zenith 2 tent (FG poles) and then saw this Highpeak one on sale locally for only $39! - so I bought that one as well, with the intention of returning one of em. I set them up side by side indoors and here are my observations about the HighPeak when compared to the Kelty:-unknown German brand, but uber cheap and seems well made (in China).-taped seams on the fly with 2 entrances and vestibules!-slightly wider and taller than the Kelty, but a 1.5 pounds heavier, probably due to rugged PE floor (tarp material)-pole clips for speedy assembly, but clips were difficult to open and would be really hard with cold wet hands - might be able to modify the plastic lip so poles pop in easier...-smallish wall pockets and no gear loft.-poles made a cracking sound when bending, which is scary, since there are so many bad reviews specifically mentioning broken poles.If you can find this tent cheap and just add in the cost of replacement aluminum or quality FG poles then it makes for an awesome budget tent. Otherwise, you'll be cursing about this tent online after you break a pole out in the woods. I've emailed the company asking about the cost of replacement aluminum poles, but a week later and still no answer. Not too encouraging...

Decent Quality for a great price

I purchased this tent almost three years ago now. I have used it on a total of six backpacking trips. This was the first "backpacking" tent I had ever purchased. Since purchasing this tent I have purchased several other name brand backpacking specific tents.First off I believe that this is a great beginner tent if you are just getting into backpacking. The total weight if the tent including rainfly, poles, REI stakes, and of course the tent is 6lbs 6oz. That is not bad considering the price of the tent and the size. I have used it on multiple trips with my brother and both of us were able to sleep very comfortably. I have not measured this tent but as noted in other reviews it is quite large compared to other two person tents. This is one of the main contributors to its weight.I also own a Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 and a REI Quarter Dome UL. The High Peak Hyper light is significantly heavier than the other two tents but it was also less than one third the price. The Hyper Lite also has significatly more room than the Quarter Dome or the Big Agnes. I have only used this tent in the rain one time, but I had no problem with any leaks. Condensation also has not been a problem any more than on other high end tents.Although I do not use the Hyper Lite anyomre after purchasing my other two tents, I still believe that it is a great tent for the price, and would not hesitiate to use it again if needed.

cheap tent no support

this tent is cheaply made, no surprise but their customer service is nonexistent. After their tent pole shattering after only 2 years I have made multiple attempts to contact this company to order replacement poles. This company will not even respond, good luck finding repalacement parts.

Fair-weather Tent.......

It's a fabulous sunny-weather tent, realtively cozy for two persons of average size and weight....but when it rains it POURS. It LEAKS through every cross-hatched weave of thread it's made of. You'll scream like I screamed, curse like the sailor you will be whilst drifting about, angrily wondering why you decided to let your desire to save a little dough has literally drowned you in sorrow.....and it wasn't even a heavy rain. Alas.

Awesome Value!!!

This guy is awesome. I got it for a church camping trip. My wife and I decided to go at the last moment, so 3 days before I was looking for a cheap tent online, and stumbled on this guy. Its a very small tent, and I dont recomend it for anyone taller than 5'8. (I am 5'8 and my wife is 4'11) I had just enough room to stretch. The package also says it fits a third person, and it does, but I wouldnt recomend it.Setting up was simple. It took me 10 minutes to put it all together, and thats because we were late and setting up in the dark. Taking it apart was just as easy.The only drawbacks are the zippers. They get caught on the fabric very easily. And since it is so small, you can feel the condensation on the walls, and if you bump your head on the wall, its going to rain in your tent. (Im exagerating it's not that bad)The most awesome part was storage. It fits anywhere. the pouch where it goes in is about a foot and 4 inches.In my opinion, this tent was awesome. It did it's job (provide shelter from the 30 degree weather outside); It didnt rip, And it was only 20 bucks!

Perfect small tent!

I bought two of these tents for my kids. We camp in the desert (southern California) in a toy hauler. The kids needed their own space, and a place to put their gear.This is perfect for that. It comes with a rain tarp, and if you don't use it, you have perfect star viewing at night. I'm 5'5 and slept in it with my 7 year old son very comfortably, with all our gear.No, it's not for the serious backpacker/camper. Not really for an adult couple either. But perfect for younger camping on the beach, desert, backyard...heck yeah!

Very nice overall layout, with one very big design flaw. After buying this tent new, I took it out to the sierras for a 8 day trip through the Ansel Adams Wilderness. We had heavy thunderstorms for several hours 1 night and this tent leaked in 2 spots. The rainfly on this tent is different as it does not lead straight away from the tent. It goes along the top of the tent to the corner. There is a flap that covers the zipper, and it's stitching seam to the zipper is not taped. Rain leaks through this seam splashes onto the tent netting, and falls into your tent,ON BOTH SIDES!!!!!! Very poor design and manufacturing, be aware of this before you buy, and seamseal the area before you head out. Other than that the tent is fine. I dislike hubs though
