After loading up my backpack for a 2 day climb of the South Sister in Oregon I realized I had over 50 lbs and hadnt even added water yet. The one greatest impact was my M Hardware 4 season tent; it weighs 12 lbs. So I went down to a local store and was grabbing a coleman tent that weighs 5.3 lbs and then just above it I noticed this little gem. The Igloo Pop up Tent. 3 lbs 8 oz, and it practically sets itself up. I was sold. (it would have been a little less $ if I got it through Amazon, but I needed it that day.)My only complaint if any is that I wish it would fold into a little smaller disk. Straped to my backpack it looked a little odd and I got several climbers passing by asking me...whats the disk thing? I would say, its this really cool tent. (they would chuckle and keep walking). my two friends that were climbing with me would then laugh and say "they think you are an idiot"...I said, just wait till we set up camp.The laughter quickly stopped when we were all exhausted and setting up camp at over 8000ft near sunset. Everyone drops their backpacks to the ground and starts pulling out tents. Before either of my friends could even get their footprint down I was already setting the support spikes for my tent. I then started laughing at them from inside my Igloo as I inflated my sleep pad and drank water while watching them set poles and rain flys.I got the last laugh. (they both want one now.)

Alright alright, so here's the deal. I purchased my Igloo pop up tent because 1.) I needed a tent for camping out at Phish's 3 night run in Commerce City, CO. this past labor day weekend and 2.) I wanted to save money (read: I am cheap). Well, I was NOT disappointed. I had low expectations with this tent, but it was above and beyond what I expected. First off, it's probably the easiest thing to set up. For real. Takes not even a minute to unfold it, pop it out and stake it down. When I got to the campgrounds outside of Dicks Sporting Goods Park I thought about how we were all going to be camped in an open field, in the hot Denver sun all day. But then it dawned on me that my badass new tent had a flap in the back of it that allows cool air to flow into the tent and keep me feelin' fresh. That feature itself is worth $50. This tent allowed me to sleep well into the late morning, still feeling comfortable despite the blazing hot sun. Also, if you've ever been to Denver I'm sure you know about how windy it can get. Huge gusts of wind blowing like crazy. For those three days camped out, my Igloo withstood those gusts of wind, barely even moving at all, where as other people's EZ-ups and other tents were being blown over, coming unstaked and flying off to who knows where. Not the Igloo. That bad boy stayed put. I watched so many people having to restake their tents and make adjustments or repairs while I chilled there sippin' Sierra Nevadas.Now, I am a 6'1" dude. On the thin side, but tall for sure. One of my concerns was that this tent wasn't going to be big enough to fit me. I was Wrong. SO wrong. Not only is there enough room to fit a tall man, but there's space even to fit a pretty little lady too (maybe even a BIG lady). And enough room for a backpack and all the other crap we take when camping. I could also sit upright in any spot in the tent and not have my head bumping into the roof. In short, there's plenty of room in the Igloo.What about rain? Well, Sunday afternoon, after going through yet another windstorm it started to pour. By that point I was outside the venue, and part of me wondered how my tent was holding up back in the campgrounds. I knew deep down though, that the Igloo was doing just fine. It only poured for a half hour or so, and after returning to my tent later that night I was pleased to find that there inside of it, was the smallest, dinkiest puddle. A puddle that probably would not have been there had I put a tarp down under my tent. Other than that, it was pretty dry.Folding it up is almost as easy as getting it set up. The scientists at Igloo have unlocked the formula for creating a tent for people who want to set it up and take it down with ease. So to sum it up, this is probably the best deal you can get on a tent. I don't know what else you could want. But unless you're really picky, or some kind of camping snob then I'd recommend the Igloo. It gets the job done like a boss.

It works well enough, especially for a such a cheap tent. The only thing really 'wrong' with it is that the floor is the same nylon as the sides and is likely to rip easily. It was easy to setup, and only slightly less easy to take down. Zippers are OK, but easy to leave a gap in the bottom corner if you're not paying attention.
