The Bear Creek Solo 1 Person Tent is based on a Paha Que tent design originally used by the United States military over the past five years. This tent is designed to be super-lightweight, easy to set up, easy to pack, and provide complete protection for the user in any conditions. The total mesh tent body protects against insects and other critters on hot humid nights. The sil-nylon tent rainfly turns the Bear Creek into a completely waterproof and windproof tent with a vestibule to keep your gear dry as well. Unique design provides extra interior room for sitting up, changing clothes, and more. The Bear Creek Solo will also attach to a standard 7' cot - perfect for sleeping outdoors, off the ground, and without the bugs!

I never heard of this company before, but I read some good reviews of this tent in a few magazines so I bought one for myself and a buddy bought one also. We were camping about 4 weeks ago in the Fish Lake National Forest in central Utah, scouting some cool valleys and old ruins in that area. The second night it started raining late, and then the winds picked up bad. I was enjoying laying there looking at the stars when I fell asleep, I sure wasnt expecting rain. Anyway I jumped out and threw on the rainfly before it got really bad. I layed there for awhile hoping this thing would hold up to the wind and keep me dry. I must have fallen asleep during the storm because I woke up in the morning and I was completely dry. After that it didnt rain anymore, but overall I am very happy with this tent. I like how lightweight it is and how easy it was to set up. Looks like this one will last awhile too, I really hammer my gear but this tent has held up well so far!

Frankly, from the ad data this looks like a really nice tent. I liked the side door set-up and the structure as far as I could tell. And the price seems right. However, there is a whopping one-pound difference between the weight listed for the tent in the description of the item on Amazon and the actual weight. It says on the box that the contents weigh 4 lb and when I weighed it myself the tent and contents actually weighed almost exactly that. The description says 3.1 lb. For a backpacking tent that is considerable, so I returned it and got a Big Agnes that really does weigh about 3 lb.
